Video Assignment – Some assignments I accept simply because I know the assignment is going to be fun … and I’m going to make “good” money at the same time; it also helps when you are working with 5 of your studio mates and longtime friends. The annual Piney Creek “Block Party” is one such assignment. All I am going to say – “you wish you lived in this neighborhood once a year.” Wow – what a Block Party.

Photo Assignment – September 21, 2012 AlloSource, one of the nation’s largest non-profit providers of skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures and the world’s largest processor of cellular bone allografts, today celebrated the opening of its new headquarter campus in Centennial, Colorado. In a challenging economy, AlloSource continues to expand and support the Colorado community through responsible growth. In 2011, AlloSource grew its staff by more than 10 percent. To better compensate its growing workforce, AlloSource broke ground on a 90,000 square-foot building addition in May, 2011, nearly doubling the size of its headquarter campus and allowing for remote Denver-based offices to be consolidated under one roof. – Allosource Press Release.

Photo Assignment/Behind the Scenes – Drug a bunch of photography gear out to the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Denver to photograph Jeff Nutall of Wells Fargo for a feature in and possible cover of an upcoming issue of Bank Investment Consultant Magazine. *Final layout will be posted after publication.

A Bunch of Gear.

Photo Assisting/Behind the Scenes – Today’s Location: Faris Machinery, Commerce City, Colorado.

Don (aka Josh) the Model. “I seriously want one of these things!”

Photo Assignment(s)/Behind the Scenes – Traveled out to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO to photograph Shane O’Neil of the Colorado Rapids and then rushed to downtown Denver and Jackson’s Sports Bar to set up and photograph Kenneth “Manimal” Faried of the Denver Nuggets along with Maxim model Jordan Keali for the 2012 Snow Angels issue of Mile High Sports Magazine. *Final layout and behind the scenes videos will be posted after publication.

Recent News – Better Late Than Never. The Colorado Avalanche have named second-year star Gabriel Landeskog captain after a fantastic rookie season. This makes Landeskog the youngest captain in the league, and the youngest in the history of the NHL at just 19 years old.

Wedding Photography? – Don Cudney shoots weddings? Not really, I just accept these gigs out of financial desperation. First of all, I’m not “that” good at capturing weddings – I can name at least 20 of my friends that are “much, much better” at shooting weddings and basically, I’m just “not into it” and would rather spend my Saturday’s fishing or snowboarding (or editing images or video that I created Monday – Friday). I realize I sound like a spoiled rotten photographer, but hey, I “paided my dues” shooting weddings over a decade ago. Please don’t call or email me to shoot a wedding. ***Unless it’s in Europe, the Fuji Islands or The Seychelles. LOL. !@#$%^ hypocrite I am. “At least I’m being honest.” Location: Christie’s Event Center, Genesse, CO. SubContracted by MyCreativeDept.

Location Scout – Performed a location scout at 1101 Sherman Street, downtown Denver for an upcoming cover and feature shoot. BTS Fact: Yes, professional photographers DO get paid to location scout – it’s true …. it’s not a Old Photo Myth.

1101 Sherman Street, Denver, CO 80203

Sneak Peek – Let It Snow … a sneak peak, yes, I meant to spell it that way at the 2012 Twin Peaks Snow Angels layout that will appear in the December 2012 issue of Mile High Sports Magazine.

Portfolio Website Update – I really, really, really need to update my portfolio website with an Agency Link, new(er) Beauty images, for that  matter, newer images for every link, a Motion Reel and a new BTS Video.
Now if I can just find time!

3-Pages That Have Been Updated

Recent iPhotography – Orange, IMAGE & Fire Hydrant, 2012. “Hey … don’t laugh – one day this crap might be worth some money.”

Photo Assignment/Behind the Scenes – Spent a long morning at the Renaissance Hotel/Stapleton as a “second shooter” creating company photos for MyCreativeDept and Kaiser Permanente. BTS Rant – There is nothing more embarrassing than having your (rented) equipment “go down” or not work efficiently. DO NOT get me started about the one and only rental house here in Denver; I won’t name HIM, but the shop starts with a C and ends with a N. WTF ?? I and at least 50 other creatives that I have spoken to could write a novel of stories about this shops bad business practices and on location disappointments. Without going into detail let’s just say – HIS gear failed … as usual and … as predicted. Why do we torture ourselves?

Renaissance – Rainy Load-In – Escalator – Carpet

“We hate boring company photos. Can we pose like this?”

In Remembrance – I’m not one to “celebrate the date” of a death or national tragedy, but to each their own. I Love NYC and I “feel” for my friends that “lived through or lost loved ones” during the horror that was September 11, 2001.

Just For Fun – I need a vacation. That’s all.

Archive/Recent Events – In light of Vice President Joe Biden‘s recent Facebook popularity I thought it fitting to post an image I created of him back in 2010 when he visited UQM Technologies up in Longmont, Colorado. “You should see the images I have of VP Biden kissing children … how dare he.” LOL. Go Joe !
To see more images of VP Biden go to my May 2010 webpost.

Photo Assignment/Tearsheet – Traveled out to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, set up gear on the really expensive grass (sorry, Field Grass) and almost lost my privileges as a Rapids Approved Photographer. Ooops … I should know better. Photographed Martin Rivera of the Colorado Rapids for the September 2012 issue of Mile High Sports Magazine.

Photo Assignment/Tearsheet – The old … “we found a piece of furniture in the alleyway and decided to use it as a prop” photo shoot; not really. I (my Assistant) drug this P.O.S. all the way from my studio in South Denver. LOL. Photographed A Beautiful Girl named Jana Blue for the September 2012 issue of Mile High Sports Magazine.

Archive – Found these outtakes of Jeremy Bloom while searching through his images for a recent client and realized that I forgot to include an image of Jeremy on my newest athletes promo poster currently hanging at Integer Group. Ooops. Next time.

Self Promotion – I am fortunate to have a 30 x 40 Inch poster hanging for the month of September on the Art Wall at the Integer Group/Denver, one of the largest advertising agencies in the World. The copy reads – Dealing with big egos for two decades … I’m not referring to the athletes themselves, but more the egos and stress levels associated with these type of high-profile, big productions. In other words – I got the skills, the equipment and I can “handle” the talent, the agent and the Account Rep..

iPhotography – More iPhotography. At least it’s not images of my breakfast, lunch or dinner !

Video Assignment/Behind the Scenes – Spent the afternoon and evening at Red Rocks Amphitheatre creating behind the scenes images and live video footage of Bonics, Chevy Woods, Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. Despite what most Hip Hop videos depict these guys lead fairly normal family lives backstage unlike many of the rock and pop bands I have photographed. BTS Highlights – Shooting “on-stage at Red Rocks” is … pretty cool, but flying a Glidecam on-stage at Red Rocks is fucking awesome; Wiz’s mother and I talking about Minot, ND where she was stationed in the Air Force and gave birth to Cameron Jibril Thomaz aka Wiz Khalifa, the second-hand “high” I received just photographing these guys in their dressing room. Client: MyCreativeDept

— add backstage portraits of Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller here —

**I pray I can “Share” some of the dressing room images and live performance video, but the performers have First Right of Refusal; I may have to settle for Retweets or Sharing what Rostrum Records releases.

Google Image Search – Way back in December of 2011, I was contacted by several celebrity TV news agencies asking to “profit from the display of MY images” of Brittney Schreiner, who was currently featured on Bachelor 16, but NONE of the agencies wanted to PAY for that usage right – “If she wins – we’ll call you back.” Oh well – No Sale. Just last week a Google Image Search revealed this “unauthorized use,” although technically these images are “out there” on the Internet and is displayed on Mile High Sports Magazine’s Archive Page for eternity. Hey – I’m just glad they spelled my name right and wish they had included a hot link. The Bastards.

September Archive – Creating some covers are more fun than others. September 2004 cover of ColoradoBIZ Magazine.
