November 2012

SmugMug – I created a SmugMug Account over a year ago and have only generated about $65; maybe that’s because I only have one Image Gallery uploaded. LOL. I’ve been promising athletes, models and corporate board members for years that I would upload images and allow them to purchase coffee cups, t-shirts and wallet-sized prints . I’m no Avedon, Weston or Sherman, but what if they had sold their images for Novelty Use? Would their images be worth millions of dollars today? Am I selling out?!?

Sneak Peak – Are You Ready For Some ……. 2012 Snow Angels?

Don & The Twin Peaks Ladies

Behind the Scenes – It’s that time of year … Snow Angels, Corporate Headshots and Behind the Scenes videos late night at the studio. “I am a slave to my electronics.” iMac, iPad, MacBook Pro and a PowerMac … created by iPhone.

Recent Tearsheet – In Good Company. The November 2012 issue of Mile High Sports Magazine on display at 7-11.

iPhotography – Part of a iPhotography Series called … My Commute, 2012.

iPhotography – Stand Bite, 2012. I have worked as a photo assistant, a video grip and a photographer for over 20 years and you would think by now I would be able to avoid ….. the Stand Bite. I can’t count the number of times I’ve received one or warned a new assistant about them. What are they? A Stand Bite occurs when your skin is pinched between one standard and another standard of a C-Stand, Big Boy or High-High. *Number One reason I only buy Matthews or Manfrotto Avenger brand C-Stands = reliability and safety.

We’ve also promoted the page in recent email promos. The more we can get art buyers to engage and return to our website regularly, the better for everyone!

Photo Representation – SaTEARday 11/17/12: I’m excited to announce the debut of Wonderful Machine’s new blog column: SaTEARdays. SaTEARdays are just what they sound like, tear sheets that are featured on Saturdays. Each week, I’ll be highlighting great editorial and commercial tears from WM photographers. I hope you enjoy, and keep coming back each SaTEARday for more great work! – Maria Luci/Wonderful Machine

Video Assignment/Behind the Scenes – I had one of those … “now I remember” moments on a recent assignment for MyCreativeGroup. Pissed Off, Territorial Photographers are the number one reason that I do not “make a living” shooting youth sports, weddings or family portraits. Photographers that shoot these type of assignments FOR A LIVING are extremely competitive and NEED to be in order to survive in the “Golden Age of Photography,” a time when everyone is a photographer and can afford to buy an advanced amateur DSLR. I’m just lucky every Tom, Dick and Sally with a Canon 5D Mark II doesn’t WANT to photograph skin grafts, medical equipment, stuffy CEOs and not-so-pretty corporate employees. Thankfully. “Hey … hey ….. who are you shooting for????? I have exclusive rights to cover this event!” “Don’t worry pal … I’m just a Dad with a nice camera.”

Photo Assignment – – The Colorado Rapids announced on Friday that the club will part ways with eight players, including forward Conor Casey, who will depart by mutual agreement. The Rapids will not exercise contract options or will decline to offer new contracts to Edu, Ian Joyce, Tyrone Marshall, Joseph Nane, Scott Palguta, Tyson Wahl, and Luis Zapata in addition to Casey.

Video Assignment – Spent a very cold, very windy, raining and sleeting morning capturing HD video of the Spartan’s, a 10 year old pee-wee football team.  I had way too much fun on this video assignment. I LOVE the footage that NFL Films captures and have often thought of the challenges and rewards their videographers face. Hey – I’m no NFL cameraman, but I hold my own. LOL.  Client: MyCreativeDept. *Final video might be posted after post production.
